The Office of Proposal Development

The Office of Proposal Development (OPD), a unit of Texas A&M University's Office of the Vice President for Research, supports Texas A&M faculty in the development and writing of research and educational proposals to federal agencies and foundations. OPD helps meet the long-term institutional research and educational priorities of the university, e.g., promoting new and junior faculty research, undergraduate research, Pathways to the Doctorate, and promoting diversity objectives related to students and faculty. Click here or on the VPR logo above to take you to their website.

OPD helps develop research partnerships across A&M colleges, departments, centers, and interdisciplinary groups, as well as throughout the Texas A&M University System, including the Health Science Center and its four components.

OPD also offers a comprehensive suite of training programs and information resources to help new faculty, faculty expanding into new program areas, and graduate students acquire the skills and knowledge they need to write more competitive proposals

OPD supports:

OPD and MALRC

MALRC Fellows receive training to develop their proposals and find funding for these proposals. All MALRC Fellows receive 6 training sessions from the Office of Proposal Development. The training sessions are conducted by Associate Directors Lucy Deckard and Phyllis McBride. Click here for seminars and presentations from the Office of Proposal Development.

The best thing about the OPD is that their assistance does not end with a six session training course. The OPD helps in every aspect of proposal development from searching for the correct agencies to reading Fellow proposals and giving suggestions to better improve the chances of getting funded.
